Love isn’t just a new command, it’s the heartbeat of God’s people. In fact, John is going to show us that love isn’t optional or theoretical; it’s how God’s truth shows up in our lives and how we assure our hearts before Him. The question isn’t if we should love, but how — with action, generosity, and truth.

This profound truth is what allows us to not wallow in our failure, but to get up and keep moving forward in obedience.  Not because we have to earn back His favor, but because we already have it through Jesus Christ.  We obey because we love Him.  And this obedience produces a fruit-bearing assurance.  We’re not just safe; we’re changed and even our lives bear evidence of this transformation. 

1st John 1 points out that the blood of Jesus has a past, present, and future power. We can know for a fact that our past is past, thanks to the blood of Jesus. We are forgiven! “What if I sin?” Confess it. As we confess, we are cleansed. Join Pastor Keith as he further explores this passage.

We’re going to see that there is a difference between walking in darkness, living in habitual, rebellious sin, and sinful acts.  We’re also going to see that for every believer who thinks that they’re marked by failure, there is good news. As we jump into Daniel 4, it's important to note something unique: this is the only chapter in the Bible written by a pagan king.  It’s King Nebuchadnezzar’s personal account of how Yahweh intervened in his life, humbling Nebuchadnezzar before God brought about transformation and restoration. 

It’s been said every person has a price — that given the right offer, the right pressure, or the right threat, even the strongest convictions can crumble. Maybe it’s wealth. Maybe it’s acceptance.  Maybe it’s safety. Today we meet three men who showed Babylon — and us — that some convictions aren’t for sale at any price. 

Jesus Christ is the stone the builders rejected, but he has now become the cornerstone for a whole new world.  If you understand Jesus in those ways, you can live a life like Daniel.  Dare to be a Daniel, a real Daniel.  Not the self-made, self-reliant person that we strive to be, but the God-saved, God-reliant person Jesus died to make us be. 

The example of Daniel teaches us to not blame God for our pain but to run to Him in faith in the midst of it. We are living in Babylon, this world, in the midst of an invisible system that is opposed to God. What should be our response?
